About This Blog

This blog is about writing and Second Life.

How could they possibly relate?

It started with Aggi, the online game alter ego of one introverted wannabe writer with too many craft hobbies. She made her debut in The Realm Online in the mid 90's, took a fun trip through Puzzle Pirates, and has been in Second Life since 2007.

I have learned a lot about the game over the years, and this blog will mostly feature tips, tricks, and guides. I've taken a lot of notes for specific issues, and I love making lists, so it makes sense to put them all in a place I can find them again, and also share with you! I am not an expert, just a long time player who is still finding new things to learn, because the game always changes.

I find Second Life to be a wonderful creative outlet, and mainly use it to design my own dream houses and landscapes and scenes.  I'm on it often enough that it began to interfere with my dream of writing a fantasy novel series.

But one night, after too much cheese and a really bizarre dream, it became perfectly clear how to achieve three goals at once. Write Aggi's official backstory, tie it in to that fantasy novel, and achieve my teenage dream of one day writing an elven vampire* steampunk space pirate novel that will of course become an instant hit. And, y'know, keep playing the game, with a valid excuse that I'm using it for character and world building and therefore it must count as writing.  I'm basically writing my own fan fiction.  It's ridiculous, and will likely not make sense to anyone but me, but it's good writing practice, so I intend to keep doing it.

I initially wrote these stories to be specifically set in Second Life, but now I am rewriting them due to copyright concerns.  They now take place in a high tech dream world of Antares, a corporate-made world (in space) where people use Pixeltech - the latest and greatest building materials in the galaxy. Or something.  I'm still figuring it out.

Come for the tutorials, stay for the stories, or vice versa. I'm happy to address specific questions or topics.

All the best,

Aggi

*There are no vampires. At least none that have stepped forward. I bet they'd like space, though.
